The TEAM

​CAPS was established in 2008 in the Sutherland Shire, and our experienced and caring team has had the pleasure of working with many families, schools and health professionals in the Shire. We are a Miranda-based clinic, home to a team of eight clinicians, with each bringing specialist skills and a wealth of experience to our clients.

Fiona Beall
Clinical Psychologist- Director

Fiona is a Clinical Psychologist focusing on Child and  Adolescent therapy  in the Sutherland Shire since 2000. She has a Masters of Clinical Psychology and has been working with children and adolescents with a variety of clinical issues for 21 years . Fiona's recent interests have included supporting the transition from adolescence to young adulthood, as well as the management of anxiety and mood across childhood and adolescence.

Fiona is the Founding Director of CAPS and is passionate about the centre providing a safe and empowering environment for children and families that promotes positive change. In her therapeutic work with children, adolescents and young adults,  her areas of interest include Anxiety, Depression,  Tics,  Mood Disorders and the promotion of overall well-being. Fiona utilises (CBT) Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, CBIT for Tics and Tourette's disorder, Behaviour Therapy,  Positive Psychology, (DBT) Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Solution Focussed Psychotherapy. Fiona provides clients with clear and useful strategies that assist in positive change and overall wellbeing. Fiona is a member of the Australian Psychological Society and the College of Clinical Psychologists. Fiona's clinic days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays.

 Julia London 
Clinical, Educational and Developmental Psychologist

Julia is a Clinical Psychologist as well as an Educational and Developmental Psychologist who has 10 years experience in working with children, adolescents and families, and has been part of the CAPS team since 2008.  Julia is currently a Member of the Australian Psychological Society as well as a Fellow of both the College of Educational and Developmental Psychologists and the College of Clinical Psychologists.

​Julia has specific interest and training in the psychometric assessments we offer at CAPS. She also enjoys working with school aged children and their families presenting with a variety of clinical issues such as anxiety, as well as educational issues such as attention and learning or social difficulties. Julia utilises a variety of treatment modalities in her work. Julia's clinic days are Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays.

MELISSA MADONIS 
Psychologist
​

Melissa brings over 10 years of experience and passion in providing psychological treatment to adolescents. Melissa starts with establishing a warm and comfortable relationship to understand the unique needs of the young person. A collaborative plan is developed to address common difficulties such as a mood problems, anxiety and low self-esteem. Family conflict or school issues such as bulling and behavioural concerns are also areas that can be explored. Melissa is experienced in working with young people who have faced adversity including a history of trauma, attachment issues or when problems seem complex.  A range of evidence based treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Schema Therapy are used to help clients understand themselves, improve their communication and foster healthy coping skills.  
 Melissa is fully registered with the Psychology Board of Australia, Member of the Australian Psychological Society and is a Psychology Board Approved Supervisor. Melissa's clinic day is Wednesdays.

Craig Frazer 
Social Worker

 Craig is a Clinical Social Worker with 25 years experience in the provision of psychological therapies to children & adolescents in public and private mental health settings .He has worked at CAPS since 2010 .

Craig has particular interest and expertise in early childhood ( 0-6 yrs old ) clinical work 

He utilises parent -child relationship attachment based therapy to address clinical concerns including anxiety, behavioural & emotional regulation issues . He also has a experience in the provision of psychological therapy to school age & adolescent issues including anxiety, mood, adjustment & trauma.
Craig  has experience in the provision of therapies including CBT Schema, DBT, parent -child attachment relationship and family therapy.
Craig's clinic days are Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays's .
Craig is in a school counsellor role at 
Trinity Grammar Prep School on Monday & Tuesday.

Laura Murphy 
Social Worker

Laura is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with clinical experience for children, adolescents and their families having worked exclusively within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health field. 

Laura aims to bring hope and positive change to clients lives in a collaborative process, combining the strengths of the individual with the appropriate psychological therapy (including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Theapy (DBT) and Family Therapy.  She is also informed in her work by Attachment theory and in systemic approaches to solving problems, supporting both parents and their children to facilitate change. Laura hopes to build with her clients a warm therapeutic relationship and make sessions together safe, engaging and creative. Laura's clinic days and Thursday and Fridays.

Michelle DeRieve
Social Worker 

Michelle is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with a special interest in adolescent mental health. Michelle has a Bachelor of Social Work, an Associate Diploma in Youth Work, and a Graduate Certificate in Youth Mental Health. Michelle has 20 years experience within the public mental health setting and private education sector.

​Michelle is committed to supporting young people and their families. She works within a strengths based, biopsychosocial model of care, recognising the importance of the many facets of each individuals life. Michelle has completed training in ACT, DBT, CBT, and SFBT . Michelle is experienced in working with young people to manage anxiety and depression, and social issues . Michelle has a particular interest in supporting senior students as they navigate the stressors of Senior School life. Michelle's clinic days is Fridays.

CHRISTINE COOPER
Psychologist 


Chris is an Educational and Developmental Psychologist who has been working with children, adolescents and their families for over 15 years. Chris is a full APS Member and a Fellow of the College of Ed and Dev Psychologists. She is a Registered Supervisor and is able to provide supervision to Psychologists in Training. 

Chris has a strong interest in psychometric assessment and is passionate about conducting thorough assessments and delivering evidence-based intervention. She has extensive experience in assessment and providing intervention for a range of learning, educational, emotional, behavioural and clinical issues children, adolescents and their families deal with. Chris uses a variety of therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution Focussed Therapy, Art, Play Therapy and Mindfulness in the intervention she provides and aims to tailor intervention to best suit the needs of her clients.  Miriam Webb 
Clinical Psychologist

Miriam is a Clinical Psychologist who has enjoyed working with children and adolescents for over 13 years. She uses curiosity and playfulness to create a relaxed environment for children and their parents to explore avenues for real change and assist families to support their child into the future.

​Miriam uses interventions that are evidence-based such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and is guided by attachment principles to unlock the meaning behind children and young people’s presentations and create lasting wellbeing. Miriam is a Circle of Security Facilitator and experienced in trauma informed practice.  Areas of interest are anxiety, emotion regulation, parenting, ADD/ADHD, social difficulties, OCD and depression. Miriam's clinic days are Mondays and Tuesdays.

Sandra Fisk 
 Administration - Reception 
​
Sandra has come from a background as a Registered Nurse  and has had several  years working in Early Child Care.   She also has experience working as an Office Manager of a small business as well as experience in large organisations as a Medical Secretary for Specialists. 

She has adult twin daughters who also live and work in the Sutherland Shire who she loves spending time with. 

Sandra loves working with children and families and will endeavour to help things run smoothy with your administration needs. 


Emily Murty
Administration - Reception

Emily has an extensive history of administration qualifications and experience. When not working, she is often caring for her own children and is understanding of the juggles of family life.

Emily is always happy to help you with enquiries via phone or email and any administration issues.
